4,700 Gallons Of Acid Spill At Bradford County Drilling Site

4,700 Gallons Of Acid Spill At Bradford County Drilling Site

By Scott Detrow
State Impact
There’s been another accident at a northeastern Pennsylvania drilling site: 4,700 gallons of hydrochloric acid spilled at a Leroy Township, Bradford County well pad operated by Chief Oil and Gas on Wednesday.
The spill comes two weeks after a thirty-foot methane geyser erupted near a Shell natural gas well in nearby Union Township, Tioga County.
Leroy is the same township where a Chesapeake Energy well suffered a 10,000-gallon fracking fluid blowout in 2011.

GOOD BY OLD FRIEND

Good by old friend
You’ve got gas
With this disease
You can not last

you gave us your pine
your hemlock and even some oil
.
Somehow you survived
Though we scared your soils.
This country was built from your uncommon wealth.
With no regard for your beauty or your health

You brought forth great hardwoods that loomed
Generating jobs with a second timber boom.
We have finally learned sustainable ways
To harvest your timber for years to come
Although some still do practice harvesting dumb

We’ve sunk our plow deep in your soil
Harvested crops from your hillsides and flats
Poisoned your water to accomplish that.

You’re an uncommon lady with riches abound
But now they have discovered gas in the ground
They are pumping poison deep in your bowels
For profits untold and good jobs for all are gold diggers howl

The poison comes back to the top with a gush
And down your valley and rivers the poison will rush
When it’s all over and the butchers a gone
I’m afraid this time you won’t last long

With out a doubt I will go first
But you old friend will suffer the worst
Your death will be slow it will not be fast

GOOD BY OLD FRIEND YOUV’E GOT GAS

I bet we wont hear thats naturally occuring like the methane! Problem is, I have been a HAZMAT worker for years and if they say 7200 gallons, thats about half of what they lost. Sometimes a third

So now its 4700 gallons. Imagine that...

Just wondering how you have made a living? Did/does the place you work use any paper or wood products?
Did/does the place you work use gas heat, electric, coal, fuel for the vehicles? Just wondering......

I make a living doing work that doesnt completely destroy the environment. I dont have to lie to people every single day to keep my job. Im not greedy, nor do I line my pockets from others misfortune. I dont have to carry a book that tells me how to program people into believing that my work is safe. I do not have to bring illegal immigrants with me to perform my job. I respect others. I do not have to blame my mistakes on everything but myself. I have supported my wife and 2 children very well. Long before this disease came to our area. I do not need them, and I do not want them. My lights come from a solar generator, and my heat from wood that I harvest from my own property, responsibly. I sleep very well at night with a clear mind and no regrets. My property is 6 generations of family. I can proudly say that I am one that said no when the gas man wanted to lease my 345 acres. It does not bother me if my nearest neighbor is getting rich from the gas under my farm. I AM AMERICAN. And I am proud...
