Dona Jane Snow, 88, Yreka, Calif, Duke Center Native

Dona Jane Snow
Yreka, Calif. —Dona Jane Snow, 88, passed away on July 18, 2012. 

Dona was born in Eldred, Pa. to Ward and Mildred Campbell. She graduated from Otto Township High School in 1942 and from Bradford Nursing School as an RN in May 1945.

Donna married Walter E. Snow in Rixford, Pa. in 1945 and they resided in Duke Center, Pa. until 1963, when they moved to Colton, Calif. 

Dona worked at the San Bernardino Community Hospital until 1985, when she retired to care for her husband who was in poor health. In 1991, they moved to Yreka to be closer to their daughters and Walter passed away shortly thereafter.

Dona took piano lessons as a young girl and she and Walt played in a small dance band in Pennsylvania. She continued to play in Yreka, where she delighted the residents of Beverly Manor and Grenada Inn.

Survivors include her daughters Patricia Mills and Marcia Setzer and her son-in-law Dave Setzer, all of Yreka; and a son and daughter-in-law, Walt and Sheila Snow of Harrison, Ark. She also has three sisters, Eleanor Carlson and brother-in-law Arnold Carlson, Glenna Hughes and Sherma Womer, all of Florida. Dona is also survived by eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dona was dearly loved by all who knew her.

Private family services are planned. Memorial contributions can be made to Madrone Hospice, 255 Collier Circle, Yreka, CA 96097.

She will be missed.
My mom and dad were friends with her and Walt,,,,Mom remembers the boat ride Walt, Dona, and my dad took down the Allegany River on New Years day one year,,,,,a lot of fond memories.
Prayers will be with your family at this time.
