We live between Coudy and Shinglehouse. Zitomedia has been up the entire time. It's the lack of electric power at the amplifers and nodes.

we have zitomedia internet on it Coudersport. It came back on when the electric came on around 6pm. Hope you get yours soon. Miss your news.

You know...Zito is still a local company with local employees who most of which are working VERY hard round the clock to get your cable and internet on, who also have been without power and are busy getting you connected while the contents of their refrigerators spoil, and they aren't complaining that this blog hasn't been updated. You are always very quick to criticize Zito...but you aren't criticizing the company your are criticizing your fellow citizens.

Also keep in mind that Zito are local employees working VERY VERY hard to get cable and internet restored...and have been since the storm came through...ignoring the fact that there own residence need attention.

Not criticizing Zito. Just cheering them on to get service back up.
We love their Hi Speed internet.

Zitomedia and Verizon cannot
"run" without power. When the power is restored, then they can get their services up and running.

Anyword on hourseshoe court with electric back???

Wow...I would just be happy to get electric back...without electric I don't even have running water...

Yes these companies are running off generators..and yes, most of their employees don't have power...Elec and Cable lines are down...some of those electrical wires are live...that means that other lines can not be placed back up until it is SAFE .I would much rather have no TV or Internet and the peace of mind that someone was not putting their life in danger for our communities entertainment.

Hi Jim,

By most accounts, once power came back on, cable and internet was working too. Sounds like you guys must have had more damage to your cable system than most places. I know the guys/gals from all the companies have been working around the clock, so hopefully that gets fixed soon too. GOOD LUCK!

Woodlawn Ave in Coudersport is without electric also. Trees are on lines and lines are also in street.

Here at Zito we are unable to touch some of the lines currently due to power companies. As soon as they get their lines up we can begin out work. We had a 10 inch tree in Roulette crushing both the power and Zito lines.

I would think that you would be using a smart phone tethered to your PC. Then you would be able to update as usual while you waited for the wired services to return. If the cell tower goes down well then you are out of luck, but they seem to be the most resilient form of communication available to the average joe around here. As things stand it doesn't seem like you are utilizing all available options.

It's NOT Zito's fault that man relys on electricity to live.

Apologies Jim for being so defensive. Problem with written media is you can hear the inflection. :) Read is as a complaint and but can see how you meant it has a cheer. :) Please accept my apologies.

If you have a smartphone you can tether that to any computer and use it as a free wifi hotspot for internet access using an application called PDANet.

You install it to your phone through the smartphone marketplace and also need to download a utility for the computer in use.

I am doing this right now from lovely, powerless, suburban Roulette using PDANet

Although our neighbors on E. Seventh have had power for 24 hours, Woodlawn Avenue in Coudersport is still waiting. It is now 5:45 PM on Saturday and we are hoping for a service crew - very soon.

Welcome back ! I have observed many power and contractor trucks going through Emporium the last few days. They where all in downtown Emporium getting fed the last two evenings at 9 or 10 o'clock. Noticed First Energy affiliated trucks from 3 different states.
These outages make us appreciate the dependable utilities we have most of the time.

post 2:22am i'm glad you appreciate the dependable utilites.
i bet you live in emporium. the power in the castle garden area is still off as of 11:40 am sunday. they have been riding around down here all weekend doing nothing. i had to throw out about $400 worth of spoiled food from my freezer today but who cares its DOWN COUNTY. if it was emporium they would have called out the national guard. the only time people from down here are alive is at tax time or a commissioner is afraid he might not get elected again

U people complain about internet being down when there is more IMPORTANT things in life like our lives or our food being spoiled. Get a grip people life is more important than stupid internet or even this gossip collem

still have no power on Benson Hollow or Coleman Mills Rd. In Port Allegany. They say that the earliest it may be on is 12am tonight. I must admit that it is an inconvenience going without electric, but it could be a lot worse. I'm just glad that everyone is okay and there weren't more injuries. I'm not really worried about Zito Media not having things up and running. They need electric to make their services work. Just remember and think how bad things could be..

For some of us, the internet represents making a living. Without it, we don't get a paycheck. Without a paycheck, there won't be food to spoil, or life to live. BTW, Many people get real news from this website. It's not always a "Gossip Column" (though the comments often are.)

If you earn a living off of the internet and have no backup plan like a satellite link and a generator that is your fault and no one else’s. You need to be more prepared!

I have basic cable and able to have cable internet. I also have a basic no frills cell phone. NOW, IF I HAD FREE welfare I could afford myself a new-fangled cell phone with all these wireless internet activities you all talk about.

Ref 7/29/12 11:53 AM .
Down county my foot. I'm sorry you don't have power and lost food from your freezer. I am skeptical of the contractors riding around doing nothing. They have to start with the bigger lines and work through to the smaller users. Sorry but law of supply and demand.
You are more than welcome to lodge a complaint with the PUC or whatever power company you have.
Good luck ,save your money and get a generator as the storms are definitely getting more violent.
