Scam Calls Soliciting Seniors In Area

SCAM CALLERS SOLICITING IN AREA

Today I received a SCAM call with a very official sounding announcer with the following recorded message:

If you are a senior citizen, or know somebody that is a senior citizen that may be in need, please listen closely to the following information. Each year there has been a significant rise in the number of senior citizens suffering death and serious life-threatening injuries from a delay in response times from medical emergencies, fires, burglaries or even just a simple fall. The American Heart Association and American Diabetic Association are urging all seniors to get a personal life-saving emergency medical alert system for their home. For the first time, the American Senior Benefits Program is providing senior citizens with this life-saving emergency medical alert equipment at no charge to seniors…

It obviously sounded too good to be true, so I Googled it and came up with the following information:

Basically, it is a SCAM and they will bill seniors $29.99 per month for their service.

The frightening thing is that it sounded so official and real that I am betting a lot of senior citizens will be taken up by this. Please alert your loved ones about this new (at least new to me) SCAM that is circulating the Coudersport area now.

My parents are in their 80's. My dad is almost 90. When people call them, they say "Call my daughter." Then they give them my phone number. Also, I review their mail so they don't respond to scams.

Received this call in Eldred also.

I thought we were on a "do not call" list, but we keep getting this particular scam call, as well as "Rachel at cardservices" type calls.
Disgusting!
