2012 Festival Of Choirs USA Was Beyond Expectations

The big tent is set up waiting for the 2012 Festival of Choirs USA event.
Wow, Wow and Wow!!!

I wanted to thank all of the churches that entered this year’s Festival of Choirs USA®. I also wanted to thank the people that worked and attended the Festival.

It was an extreme amount of work by many people. We all concluded that it was SOOOO worth it though! We had a Great team this year and everyone worked 100%+. The crowds on both days showed great appreciation and all seemed to have a great time. The two day total of people that came was close to 650.

We had five churches that entered and they were all excellent! There were four categories that choirs could register in. The categories were based on the number of choir members that would be singing in each choir. They were 7-11, 12-16, 17-21, and 22 plus. The judges had a hard time judging. The choirs really stepped up their songs. The choirs were judged on: Stage presence, diction, blending of voices and overall performance.

Five church choirs competed in the 2012 Festival of Choirs USA 2012 in Port Allegany

The winner of the 7-11 was: Arcade United Church of Christ, Congregational

the winner of the 22 plus was: First Baptist Church of Cuba

The Barr Family, Simple Faith and Sandi Patty added so much also to the Festival. The music was incredible and enjoyed by all. We had great refreshments too.

The Finale was Sandi and the registered choirs singing “How Great thou Art.” A very, very moving experience!

For a time at the start of the Festival on both days we had a little grid lock of cars on Skinner Creek road! Can you imagine that? The cars were lined up for quite a distance waiting to turn into the parking area.

We had a lot of great comments. The biggest question asked was “How in the world did you get Sandi Patty to come to Port Allegany?” I would simply reply, “It was God.”

The Festival is registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The Festival is listed as: “Promoting public awareness of the need to reestablish and reinvigorate the choirs that were once in small town churches.”

Please help us by praying for the Festival and getting the word out about it. Mark your calendars for the fifth annual Festival of Choirs USA®. The Festival will be held the third weekend of August, 2013.

Be Blessed,
Jerry J. Goochee

We need more prograns as this in the summer in this area. We need Gospel Jubilee's also with good old christian music as used to be played in the yester-year. I am sorry I could not make this as we had other commitments to attend and also health reasons. May God bless all who was involved with this Festival Of Chiors. God Speed
