I-80 bridge preservation work in North Central PA continues

Travel Advisory

I-80 bridge preservation work in North Central PA continues

Here’s an update on the bridge preservation work scheduled along Interstate 80 in north central Pennsylvania next week.

The contractor’s schedule for the week of Sept. 24 includes placing rubberized plugs in deck joints, cleaning of bridge decks and epoxy painting the permanent pavement markings.

The bridges getting the deck joint plug work are located on I-80 eastbound and westbound in Northumberland County. These bridges are located at mile marker 211.5 over the railroad tracks. The work will be done in half-width construction and traffic will be restricted through the work day and unrestricted by the end of the work day. The rubberized plug work should be done by Friday at noon.

The cleaning of bridge decks and epoxy pavement markings will take place throughout the project.

The project ranges on I-80 westbound in Union County from mile marker 207 to Columbia County mile marker 231 and I-80 eastbound from Northumberland County mile marker 211.5 to Columbia County mile marker 231. The work should take approximately 2 to 3 hours on each side of a bridge. The work will be done in half-width construction and traffic will be restricted throughout the work day and unrestricted by the end of the work day.

Due to the Bloomsburg Fair traffic, the contractor may not work on the Fishing Creek Bridge structures located at mile marker 231 in Columbia County until the following week.

Motorists are advised to be alert to work-zone traffic conditions and the likelihood that traffic will be slowed or stopped well in advance of these interstate work zones next week. Plan extra time for your travels.

PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check interstate traffic conditions before heading out.
