Military to Campus Program

New Program Will Help Veterans Make Transition to College

DuBOIS – Penn State DuBois, in conjunction with Service Access and Management, Inc., will offer a new program on campus that is designed to help veterans adapt from military life, to life as a college student.

From Military to College: A Transition to Campus Lifeis a free program, funded by Community Connections of Clearfield and Jefferson Counties. It is open to any veteran who is interested in attending college, or to veterans who are already in college. It is also open to family members or friends of veterans who want to support their loved one's transition into higher education.

The program will help to prepare those with a service background for life in the classroom. Additionally, it will offer assistance in transitioning from service life, to life back home. From Military to College also covers strategies for dealing with issues such as stress and trauma related to military service, and behavioral changes due to combat exposure. It will teach veterans tactics for reconnecting with family after their tour of duty, and how to deal with cultural issues here at home.

Veterans interested in attending From Military to College: A Transition to Campus Lifecan choose from two program times to best accommodate their own schedule. The program will be offered from 12:15 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on October 1, 3, and 5, and again from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on October 15, 17, and 18. All classes will be held in room 209 of the DEF Building at Penn State DuBois.
