Second Route 187 permanent bridge replacement project begins

Travel Advisory

Second Route 187 permanent bridge replacement project begins

The second of two state bridges on Route 187 lost during last September’s flooding in Bradford County is being replaced under a $2,619,000 contract that started this week.

The existing bridge over Wappasening Creek in Windham Township is a temporary crossing that was built after the flood.

The new three-span bridge, 222 feet long, will be built on the alignment of the previous bridge.

Only minor delays should be expected during delivery of the bridge beams later in the project. Motorists are advised to watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the work area.

Prime contractor Susquehanna Valley Corporation is scheduled to have the permanent bridge replacement in service by October 2013.
