DEP Announces Natural Gas Vehicle Seminar on Nov. 1 in Bradford County

DEP Announces Natural Gas Vehicle Seminar on Nov. 1 in Bradford County

WILLIAMSPORT -- The Department of Environmental Protection will hold a Natural Gas Vehicle seminar on Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Towanda Fire Hall in Bradford County, to help municipal and commercial fleet owners make informed decisions about converting their fleets to compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas.

The seminar will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the fire hall at 101 Elm St. in Towanda. Vendors interested in setting up an exhibit at this seminar are encouraged to sign up through DEP’s website.

“Through Act 13, Governor Corbett and the legislature moved us in the right direction by creating opportunities for converting vehicle fleets from imported oil to homegrown, clean-burning, cheaper natural gas,” DEP Secretary Mike Krancer said. “These seminars are our way to inform local governments and businesses about how they can take advantage of the opportunity Act 13 provides to lower their operations costs, lessen dependency on foreign oil and clean the air all at the same time.

“The positive response to these seminars that we have been getting across the state has been tremendous,” he said.

Act 13 of 2012 authorized DEP to develop and implement a Natural Gas Energy Development program to distribute up to $20 million in grants over the next three years to help pay for the incremental purchase and conversion costs of heavy-duty natural gas fleet vehicles.

To register for this event as an attendee or vendor, visit www.dep.state.pa.us and click on the Natural Gas Vehicle Grant Program button.
