No Injuries When Pickup Shears Off Utility Pole

A Turtlepoint man and his passenger from Westfield, PA, were uninjured when their 1999 Ford Ranger sheared off a utility pole on Route 46, east of Bordell Crossroads in Keating Township, Wednesday at 4:36 PM.

Adam C. Causer, 20, of Turtlepoint, PA, the driver, and passenger Larissa M. Soroko, of Westfield, PA, were both wearing seat belts. Trooper Andrew Brothers said the Ford Ranger was traveling eastbound on Route 46, and as Causer was negotiating a left curve on wet roadways, the rear tires broke traction, and the vehicle began fishtailing. It then left it's lane and traveled across the eastbound fog line/shoulder and impacted a utility pole and shearing it off at ground level with the vehicle's left side behind the driver's door. The vehicle then continued traveling in a southeastern direction, coming to final rest in a field.

Causer was cited for (not) Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.

Priority Care EMS and Smethport Fire Department assisted at the scene.
