Resolution on Sandusky inquiry brings state House to a halt

Resolution on Sandusky inquiry brings state House to a halt

By Laura Olson / Post-Gazette Harrisburg Bureau

HARRISBURG -- An effort by state House Democrats to force a vote on a resolution seeking details about the Pennsylvania attorney general probe of the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal led to an abrupt halt to today's legislative debate.

A measure calling for a federal investigation of how then-Attorney General Tom Corbett's office handled its inquiry into allegations against the former Penn State University assistant football coach has been sitting in committee since December.

Democrats filed a motion in June to bypass the typical legislative process and bring the measure up for consideration by the full House. When they attempted to do so today, House Speaker Sam Smith, R-Jefferson, ended session for the day.

What are the Republicans trying to hide?

Don't they know better? These aren't our representatives, these are Corbett's. And he is above reproach.

Noticed something reading yesterday... does anyone realize that while nearly every other state in our nation has experienced positive job growth in the last year, ours has not?

So much for the gas boom (well, for you and me anyways) but I'm sure those companies in Louisiana and Texas are doing pretty good.

(Oh, dont' tell me, I already know your answer. It's that darn EPA and DEP, right?)

It's about time the investigation into the then attorney general takes place!!!!!

AGREE with Poster at 11:20 AM that the investigation needs to look into the then Attorney General. He probably could have stopped the abuse a lot earlier. And then to think he was pouncing on JP and firing him when he probably could have taken care of matters a lot sooner but sure did not want to lose a governorship. SAD!!

Why don't you blame Rendell for not persuing this matter? Wasn't he in charge at the time?
