No Injuries When Mustang Flips On Rt. 607

A Port Allegany man was not injured when his 2000 Ford Mustang struck a utility pole support cable and flipped onto it's roof on Route 607, about 300 feet south of Reed Run Road on December 4th at 6:50 PM.

Douglas A. Smith, 43, of Port Allegany, PA, was traveling southbound on Rt. 607 in Keating Township, Potter County and was negotiating a right curve in the roadway when he lost control of the car, according to Trooper James Culvey. The Mustang traveled across the northbound lane onto the east shoulder, where it struck the support cable on a utility pole, causing the vehicle to overturn, coming to rest on it's roof against the utility pole. The support cable and the utility pole were damaged as a result of the crash.

Smith was wearing a seat belt and was not injured and left the scene without reporting the crash to police as required. He will be cited for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic and Leaving the Scene in District Court 55-3-01 in Coudersport.

Smith's vehicle was towed from the scene by Kightlinger's of Coudersport.
