Open Arms Church To Launch Christmas Series Sunday

Open Arms Community Church is preparing to launch their annual Christmas series this Sunday morning. This year, the four-week series addresses making the transition from selfishness to generosity.

“In a world that is absorbed with self-interest and self-gratification it’s vital we come back to a fundamental teaching of Jesus,” says Open Arms Pastor Mike McAvoy.

McAvoy says that in a culture where people work so hard to fulfill their own desires, it’s surprising how many people express feelings of being unfulfilled, “You would think that with all our material wealth, comforts, and conveniences we would be happy and fulfilled, but that’s not how it works.”

McAvoy explains that materialism is glorified this time of year, and the end result is not good. “In our obsession for more, we have become enslaved,” says McAvoy, “The things we sought to own now own us.”

“Give: The Key To Greater Blessing” is a four week series that explains that a life lived to the full is a life that involves reaching out to others. It includes the fundamental charistics necessary for breaking down the bonds of selfishness. The series kicks off Sunday at 9:15 and 11:00 AM, and will continue through the month of December.

Open Arms will also host their annual "Christmas Eve's Eve Service" on December 23.

I have attended this church in Bradford and I loved it. I love the message that you are bringing to our community and I cannot wait for the branch of Open Arms Church to open in Port Allegany next October.
