Market Strategies Workshops Utilizing Specialty Crops
Learn creative marketing strategies from producer presenters allowing them to increase farm income in rural locations as well as market extra product.
Market Strategies Workshops will be held at the following locations across the Pennsylvania:
• Friday, March 1, 2013—Exton, PA—CCEDC (I-76 at Rt. 100 exit)
• Saturday, March 2, 2013—Drums, PA, I-80 exit 256 —The Lookout House Restaurant (I-80 exit 256—1 mile north on Rt. 93)
• Thursday, March 7, 2013—Tipton, PA, I-99—The Blair County Recreation Center
• Saturday, March 16, 2013—Slippery Rock, PA—Slippery Rock University
The program will run from 9:15 – 2:30 and allow you to tap into the knowledge of experienced farmers and professionals to answer your questions about diversifying your production with specialty crops.
This innovative workshop is will cover evaluation of your local market area, calculating potential profits of new crops, and other helpful tools for a successful farming operation. Risk management will be discussed as well. Experienced farmers will share their knowledge and experiences and answer your questions about successes and challenges that they have encountered. They will share both the pros and cons of their marketing and farming experiences which will enable you to make informed decisions as you move forward. Throughout the day you will gain a wealth of knowledge you may use to either start your own specialty crop farm or diversify your current operation utilizing specialty crops.
