Route 1041 in Bradford County closed due to fatal vehicle crash

Route 1041 in Bradford County closed due to fatal vehicle crash

Motorists are advised that Route 1041 (James Street) in Bradford County is closed at the scene of a one-vehicle crash. The crash occurred about one mile south of Route 1022 (Ghent Hill Road) near the Borough of Towanda. Traffic is being detoured onto Route 1043 (Sheshequin Road), and Route 1022 (Ghent Hill Road). The closure is expected to be in effect until about 2 p.m.

THE ROAD HAS REOPENED AT THE SCENE OF THIS FATAL ROLLOVER CRASH WITH EJECTION.

UPDATE from WBNG:
Troopers say Alan D. Vanderpool, 33, of Rome, Pa., was traveling south on James Street in Sheshequin Twp. when he lost control of his vehicle at a right hand curve in the roadway.

His 2004 Nissan Maxima flipped several times in a nearby farm field, ejecting Vanderpool and his passenger, Joseph Neely, 24, of Wysox.

The Bradford County Coroner pronounced Vanderpool dead at the scene.

Neely was seriously injured and taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa., for treatment.
