Dale E. Smith, 70, of 431 Derrick Road, Derrick City, PA, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 surrounded by his loving family, at The Pavilion at BRMC.

Born March 11, 1943 in Bradford, he was a son of Donald M. Smith and the late Betty (Wolcott) Smith.

On June 1, 1963 at Sawyer EUB Church, he married Barbara A. (Berlin) Smith who survives him.

He was a 1961 graduate of Bradford Area High School.

He was self employed as a Heating & Electrical Contractor for 30 years in the Bradford area.

He was a member and past president of the Derrick City Volunteer Fire Department, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Legion and numerous other organizations. He enjoyed boating, hunting, bowling and golfing.

Surviving in addition to his wife Barb of 49 years and his father, are two daughters, Susan (Jeff) Swain, of Bellefonte, Kathy (Dan) McGill, of Quinlan, TX, one son, JR (Jennie) Smith, Jr., of Cranberry Twp, one sister, Beverly (Bill) Newton, of Trinity AL, three brothers, Richard (Cathy) Smith, of Erie, Larry (Vera) Smith, of Smethport, and William (Diane) Smith, of Derrick City, four grandchildren, Deanna and Shawn McGill, Alec and Ellie Smith and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday, April 27, 2013 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 372 E. Main St, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. Max Miller, pastor of The Bradford Area Parish, officiating.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to Derrick City Volunteer Fire Dept. or Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center or to the charity of the donor's choice.
