Think About It.

Rest

We often think of rest as that rest that we enter into after a day of work or other activity. Christians consider a day of rest to be a very important part of their faith, although many seem to miss taking it. The book of Hebrews talks about entering into a Sabbath rest, but what is a Sabbath rest? What does it mean to rest?

My life is quite busy. It seems like I always have something going on and I’m always running in high gear. Slowing down isn’t in my vocabulary, and although I’d like to at times, I’m not sure I even know how. For me, its not just a personal thing, it’s a family thing. We all seemed to be wired the same way, all eight of us. We’re also blessed, (or cursed), with that all or nothing mentality. If walking one mile is good, then two must be better. Going out for a hike means a hike, not a stroll through the woods. One of the reasons my wife doesn’t always want to do things with me is because, as she puts it, I don’t know moderation. I suppose that’s one of the reasons I, and people like me, have difficulty finding rest.

The other day a friend asked me about the rest of God, and asked if I ever considered that perhaps we’ve gotten it backwards. He went on to say that man was created on the sixth day and that on the seventh, God rested. So, man’s first day on this earth was God’s day of rest, and it was from this rest that the man went out and worked. In other words, we come from the thought that we work, then we rest, but what my friend was suggesting was that first we must rest so as to prepare ourselves for work. As I’ve thought about this it’s started to make some sense. If I prepare myself spiritually, emotionally, and physically for what’s ahead then I’m better prepared for what comes. But it doesn’t stop just there. I’ve broken it down to a daily activity of rest. My mornings start with rest in that I read and journal each morning, (or at least attempt to, doesn’t always happen as planned). In this way, I mentally and spiritually enter into my day from a place of rest. Surprisingly, when I do this my days go much better than when I don’t. Think about it.

Just a question. If God is all powerful why pray tell would he need to rest? Or for that matter why would it take 6 days to create the world? Maybe God is not all powerful hmmm. Does anybody think about this stuff? Come on its illogical. To believe this nonsense. I just can not fathom why seemingly intelligent people, continue to have a death grip, on this nonsensical malarkey. I agree one should get rest, and take time to reflect. But I still don't understand the infatuation with a fairy tale.

Dear 5:12. Statements such as "why pray tell" (which makes me think why are you praying anyway), "why would it take". "hmmm", "Does anybody think", "I just cannot fathom" (which shows YOUR intelligence, you said it yourself), "I still dont undersatnd"..ALL of those statements simply state and prove that you are not capable of understanding anything other than criticism.. Someday maybe you will see 'something'.
When God was dishing out wisdom, you must have been standing in line with a thimble.
Have a nice day

Why did the earth take so much longer to make than the rest of the solar system. In genisis it details each aspect of earth that gets created and "he made the stars also" is barely a bullet point despite being much larger in scale than earth.

It is almost as if the person who wrote the passage saw stars as specs in the sky rather than their own complex systems.

PS. As per the bible the punishment for working on the sabbath is to be put to death.

Many people of religion tend to become arrogant, and intolerant. Believing that they alone are in possession of the truth. Such faiths have perpetrated the greatest evils known to humankind. A humble faith however can be a source of great goodness.

There is a difference between knowing and having faith. You can not say you know there is a God. And still have faith. And to say you know there is a God. When you can not possibly know it, is a lie. And lying is a sin.

Really so you don't agree with your own religion sat 7:37. Your not against gay marriage you don't think we need in god we trust on our money you don't believe one nation under god should be kept in the pledge. etc. You don't believe in forcing your religion down others throats? Really! You freaking Christians thrust your crap on us all the time. Can't drive down the bloody road with out seeing a sign that says god says this or that. And the moment someone puts up anything contradicting your beliefs you throw a fit. But its ok for you to blabber your religious bull anytime you feel like it. I'm entitled to my opinion and you yours. And if I'm gonna be forced to deal with yours, your damn sure gonna deal with mine.

In my experiences the loudmouth intolerant, arrogant people are the non believers! They tend to be pro drug, pro abortion (including live birth abortion),pro gay marriage, anti gun and anti everything else unless of course it affects them or more importantly their pocket! America was built on God, guns and guts! If you don't like it please leave!
