Penn State Extension offering free soil health workshop – Saturday, 9:00 to 11:00 am

Penn State Extension offering free soil health workshop – Saturday, 9:00 to 11:00 am.

ARE YOUR PASTURES UP TO PAR? DO YOUR ANIMALS OVERGRAZE YOUR PASTURES BY MID-SUMMER?

Soil fertility and soil health are easy to overlook in our pastures, since they are not typically thought of as crops. Grazing is a very efficient way to get feed to cattle, horses and other livestock and reduce your overall hay expense. In many cases, pasture grasses and legumes can produce a very high quality feed source for grazing animals. When you monitor soil fertility, you can improve the efficiency of your grazing system by ensuring nutrients and other soil characteristics are ideal for healthy plant growth.

To learn more about soil fertility and pasture management, we welcome you to attend the Penn State Extension Pasture Management Series at the Penn State Extension office off Route 872 in Coudersport on Saturday, May 18th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m

The first 15 participants to register and attend will receive a complementary soil test kit. There is no charge for the workshop. Please call (814)274-8540 or email srg22@psu.edu to RSVP for this valuable educational opportunity.
