The Headwaters Amateur Radio Club

The Headwaters Amateur Radio Club
seeks Municipal & Police/Fire Department
Surplus Radio Equipment

May 2, 2013
The Headwaters Amateur Radio Club, headquartered in Coudersport, is seeking donations of surplus radio communications equipment that has, or will be, decommissioned from public service due to the Narrow Banding Initiative currently underway. The FCC has mandated the Narrow Banding Program, which requires most Governmental Agencies & Departments and County and Municipal Fire & Police Services to purchase new radio systems compatible with the Narrow banding requirements, and de- commission the current radio systems.

The Department of Homeland Security promotes the re-purposing of decommissioned radios and equipment and encourages that the decommissioned equipment be made available to the Amateur Radio community for re-programming to use in Emergency Communications support to the nation & the local community. The HARC operates as an Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS) to the Potter County Department of Emergency Services (DES).

HARC radio technicians will endeavor to convert the donated equipment for Amateur Radio use for Emergency Communications support here in the Potter County area. We are available to accept donations of any radios, antennas, and related communications equipment to our non-profit public service organization.

Please accept our sincere gratitude for your consideration of any future radio equipment donations to the club so that we can continue our public service efforts to provide emergency communications to the Potter County community.
