Corbett administration crumbling

Opinion
Corbett administration crumbling

The departure of five members of Governor Corbett’s cabinet reveals a state government in disarray as yet another secretary leaves. The governor asked for and received the resignation of Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Secretary Richard Allan. The Corbett administration gave no reason for firing Allan.

This is a state government that does not work from the top cabinet posts down to the ability to answer phones and process routine government business. Tom Corbett’s administration is crumbling faster than our roads and bridges under his incompetent management of state government. These government agencies are supposed to deliver real services to Pennsylvanians. But in agency after agency, phones go unanswered, applications for assistance or permits pile up in backlogs.

That did not happen under my watch in the two agencies that I managed. I know how state government should work and can work. The 2014 election cannot come fast enough for the people of Pennsylvania.

I made up my mind a long time ago, that Mr. Corbet needed to go. I have heard the name "One term Tom" used to describe our present governor. Glad to see I am not the only one.

Gov. Corbett fired Natural Resources Secretary Richard J. Allan Thursday over an e-mail containing racially charged language referring to a state employee.
