Rodney H. “Herbie” Blanchard, 61, of Shinglehouse, PA

Rodney H. “Herbie” Blanchard, 61, of Shinglehouse, PA, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, June 17, 2013.

Born March 28, 1952 in Olean, NY, he was a son of Herbert T. and Mary E. Elniskey Blanchard.
He was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Shinglehouse, class of 1970 and a graduate of Olean Business Institute.

Rodney had various jobs throughout the years. He had been employed at Dresser Rand in Olean for several years. He later moved to Florida where he was employed as a security guard. After returning to Shinglehouse, he was employed as a security guard at the Olean Center Mall. At the time of his death, Rodney was employed as a residential program worker for many years for Dickinson Center, Inc. in Coudersport.

He was a lifelong member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Shinglehouse where he had served as a Eucharistic minister. He enjoyed listening to music, singing karaoke, playing golf, and visiting with his many friends.

Surviving are many cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, Rodney was predeceased by a sister, Bonnie E. Blanchard.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11 AM in St. Theresa Catholic Church, Shinglehouse with the Rev. Thomas E. Brown, Pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.

He was one of the kindest people in this town,such a sweet person,and alot of fun to be around...alot of awesome memories.
