Work on PennDOT’s Route 220/Auction Road Project Underway

Work on PennDOT’s Route 220/Auction Road Project Underway

Lock Haven – On behalf of Gov. Tom Corbett, PennDOT today announced that work on its Route 220/Auction Road project in Lamar Township is underway. The project kicked off this morning with a ground breaking ceremony held in partnership with Clinton County Economic Development. Once work on Phase One and Phase Two are complete, area drivers will enjoy smoother, more efficient travel through this area and have increased sight distance at the four-way intersection.

The contractor will be installing long-term traffic control signing as early as today. Work next week will include completion of traffic control signing, installation of erosion and sedimentation controls, and installation of rock construction entrances.

This work may impact traffic and drivers should be alert for temporary flaggers in the roadway. Short travel delays are possible. Motorists are advised to watch for slow moving vehicles throughout the entire work zone.

Construction of Phase One includes the building of the ramps on the eastern side of Route 220, adjacent to the Auto Auction. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on the $3.4 million Phase One project.

Phase two of the project will build the bridge and ramps on the western side of Route 220, adjacent to the Clinton County Fairgrounds. Phase Two is expected to begin in 2014.

PennDOT reminds motorists to buckle up, obey posted speed limits and proceed with caution through all work zones.
