Federal Disaster Loans Made Available to Communities Impacted by Extreme Weather

Federal Disaster Loans Made Available to Communities Impacted by Extreme Weather Taking Place Between June 27th and July 12th

Counties included are Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Forest and Jefferson

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced that Pennsylvania residents and small businesses affected by severe storms and flooding between June 27th and July 12th can apply for low-interest disaster loans.

“Loan assistance is now available for the homeowners and businesses that were impacted by the extreme weather and massive flooding that took place over the last month,” stated Rep. Thompson. “While some areas are still in the process of accessing the damage, and the loss of life and property has been stunning, these funds will help businesses and residents get on the road to recovery.”

The SBA’s declaration, which covers Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Forest and Jefferson, is in response to a letter from Governor Tom Corbett to SBA on July 12, requesting the assistance based on damage assessment results.

“For questions about the disaster loan program or help with the application process, I strongly encourage residents to contact one of the Disaster Loan Outreach Centers in either Clearfield or Jefferson counties,” said Rep. Thompson. “My congressional offices are always available to help navigate the process, in the event additional support is needed.”

Loans up to $200,000 are available to eligible homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, and businesses and non-profit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace a range of business assets.
