Leetonia Road bridge replacement project starts July 24

Leetonia Road bridge replacement project starts July 24

A PennDOT bridge crew in Tioga County will begin a bridge replacement project on state-owned structure (SR 3001) on Leetonia Road in Elk Township on Wednesday July 24.

The project is located approximately 1.7 miles north of the village of Leetonia.

The exiting 12'-long twin-cell pipe culvert, built in 1967, carries Leetonia Road over Buck Run. The existing bridge is classified as structurally deficient.

The old structure will be removed and the site will be prepared to receive a precast concrete rigid-frame culvert. The roadway approaches will then be reconstructed and all other work needed to open the new bridge to traffic will be done.

While the project is under way, the road will be closed at the bridge. Traffic will be detoured onto Route 414 in Lycoming and Tioga counties, Broughton Hollow Road, Stony Fork Road, Stony Fork School Road, Route 660, Airport Road, Route 362 and Route 6.

The new bridge is expected to be in service by mid-September, weather permitting.
