Tighter On-Lot Sewage System Regulations Nixed

Tighter On-Lot Sewage System Regulations Nixed

sewageProposed stronger regulations on-lot sewage disposal near Pennsylvania’s high-quality and exceptional value streams were recently rejected by the state legislature. The rules that would have limited nitrate discharges from septic systems and prohibited landowners from installing systems within a 150-foot buffer zone around the special waterways.

Supporters claimed the restrictions are needed to protect a precious and dwindling natural resource. Opponents argued the new regulations would restrict land development and drive up costs. They further alleged the state does not have the science to support the limits, and they said restrictions should take into account specific conditions of each site, such as groundwater recharge rates, soils, topography and other factors.

Lawmakers responded to the debate by passing HB 1325 and SB 946 clarifying the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act to ensure that properly designed on-lot systems continue to be permitted at locations as regulated by county planning regulations.

$$ wins over the environment every time.

Because money can be enjoyed now. While the environment?...well, to hell with our kids, right?

Grab the life rafts.
Old politicians and landowners first.
Every generation for itself!

I'm thankful that common sense has prevailed. The land grabs by the emotional environmentalists need to end. This decision gives me hope that there are still sensible people in charge.

"The land grabs by the emotional environmentalists "

Future generations will remember your kind as the worst America ever produced and the embodiment of the rot that ate our country from the inside out.

Those that would destroy their own state, leave nothing for the next generation and sell out their neighbors for a bit of green in their wallets.

I didn't have to sell out my neighbors...turns out the sky is falling so I've been using the skimmer to pick pieces out of the creek and sell them on ebay....
