Tioga Publishing Names Ryan Oswald Publisher of Newspaper Group
Potter Leader-Enterprise

Ryan Oswald named Publisher of Weekly Papers
Ryan Oswald has been named publisher of the Tioga Publishing Company’s group of five weekly newspapers and two shoppers.

As of June 10, Oswald is the publisher of the Wellsboro/Mansfield Gazette, Free Press-Courier in Westfield, Potter Leader-Enterprise in Coudersport, and the Reporter-Argus in Port Allegany, the Dollar Savers in Tioga and Potter counties and the Money-Saver in Bolivar, N.Y.

“First off, we’ve got great newspapers in great communities with absolutely great people,” Oswald said. “What I see in these communities is an opportunity for us to continue to grow our audience and how we can help impact people’s lives and continue to keep them connected with the local community.”

Oswald, a native of Cochranton, returns to Pennsylvania after a stint as general manager of five weekly newspapers and two niche publications in Lawrenceburg, Ind. Before that, he was the advertising director of the Delaware Gazette, located just north of Columbus, Ohio.

He has also served as the key accounts rep and the internet coordinator for Madison Press in London, Ohio. He got his start in newspaper when he began working for the Meadville Tribute in 2002 as a sales representative. He also was a sales rep for the commercial printing arm of the Erie Times News.

Oswald received a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration on finance from Slippery Rock University.

Community involvement is important to Oswald’s approach to news organizations.

“I want to see us be more involved in our communities,” he said. “We will continue to enhance our news coverage of the things that matter to our communities and tap into more technology and the digital age. No matter how you want to get your information and stay in touch, we want to be the people to do that.”
