Patrick J. Matheny of 133 Delta Ave., Lake Placid, FL, and a former Bolivar, NY, resident

Patrick J. Matheny of 133 Delta Ave., Lake Placid, FL,  and a former Bolivar, NY, resident passed away Saturday (Aug. 10, 2013) unexpectedly at home.

Born March 17, 1975, in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of Jack and Sara Mae Newell Matheny.

Pat was a graduate of the Bolivar Central School class of 1993. He was a professional golf caddie and instructor at various golf clubs in Florida. Pat loved all sports, especially golf, and loved all animals.

Surviving are his parents, Jack and Sara Mae Matheny of Lake Placid; one sister, Maureen (Dominic) Petrilli of Grand Island, N.Y.; three brothers, David (Christine) Matheny of Virginia Beach, Va., Rich (Lilly) Matheny of Leonardstown, Md., and John (Cindi) Matheny of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and 14 nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Bob and Paul Wetzel and family.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lt. Robert N. Matheny, USN, in 1988.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc., Bolivar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday (Aug. 16, 2013) in St. Mary's Church, Bolivar, with the Rev. Joseph D. Wolf, pastor of Holy Spirit Church, Buffalo, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bolivar.

Memorial may be made to the SPCA Serving Allegany County, Route 19, Wellsville, NY 14895; or any animal rescue center would be appreciated by the family.
