Take a Walk While Others are Running the Sinnemahone 50K

Take a Walk While Others are Running the Sinnemahone 50K

The weekend of October 19 is growing with things to do. They are centering around the Sinnemahone 50K which will include runners from as far away as Canada competing in the ultra trail run! For those that prefer a slower and more casual outdoor event, Mark Johnson will lead a bird walk on Saturday October 19.

The 2 mile walk will last 2 hours and be held during peak migratory season. Those wishing to participate in the free event should meet at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce office at 8am. Wear comfortable light clothing, bring bug spray, and binoculars. Mark Johnson an avid bird watcher will take the group on a trail close to Emporium.

Other events that day include the start of the run at 7:30am at the intersection of Broad Street and the Rails to Trails, entertainment at the pavilion on Broad Street starting at noon, an all day fall flea market along Broad and Fourth Streets, plus the Cameron County Fireworks Firequacker Duck Derby at the Broad Street bridge.

The charge for a flea market spot is $10.00. Spaces can be reserved with payment by contacting the chamber office. Runners can register via website at http://www.ultrasignup.com/ultrasignup. And ducks can be adopted for $2.00 each or a 6-quack for $10.00 by calling the chamber office at 814-486-4314.

Anyone interested in the bird walk can pre-register for free by calling the chamber office at 814-486-4314.

“This is a first time for the run, and flea market,” says Cameron County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Tina Johns Solak. “Hopefully it will expand and become a fall tradition in Cameron County.”
