Preserving Autumn’s Beauty, a One-day Plant and Flower Drying Workshop at Sinnemahoning State Park

Preserving Autumn’s Beauty, a One-day Plant and Flower Drying Workshop at Sinnemahoning State Park

Sinnemahoning: On Saturday, September 21, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sinnemahoning State Park will be hosting a one-day workshop in the art of plant and flower drying. The workshop, Preserving Autumn’s Beauty, will be conducted by Pat Martin of Emporium, PA, a specialist in drying and preserving flowers.

Methods of plant preservation - hang drying, sand drying, and microwave drying – will be included in the morning session. In the afternoon, participants will collect plants on the grounds of the park and then fashion a small wreath from these materials.

A program fee of $10.00 per person includes all supplies and materials. Pre-register by Thursday, September 19th by calling the Sinnemahoning State Park office located in the Wildlife Center.

Participants should bring scissors and/or clippers for cutting flowers and a packed lunch for the mid-day break. The workshop will be held rain or shine. Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring along a long-sleeved shirt and garden gloves for collecting plant materials.

For more information about this workshop, please call the park office located in the Wildlife Center at Sinnemahoning State Park, 814-647-8401. Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., 7 days a week, from April 1st through October 31st. Please contact the park for office season hours.
