Toomey Working To Repeal Bio Fuel Law

Fighting Corporate Welfare: Opposing The Renewable Fuel Standard

Senator Pat Toomey

Working to improve a Senate energy bill, I offered an amendment to repeal a law that drives up the cost of gasoline and groceries.
My amendment is identical to bipartisan legislation I introduced earlier this year to repeal the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). The RFS requires fuel suppliers to blend millions of gallons of biofuels - most often corn ethanol - into the nation's gasoline supplies. It drives up gas prices, increases food costs, damages car engines, and harms our environment.
Under government mandates, refiners -  such as our Trainer, Pa. facility - are forced to make a choice: increase the ethanol content in their fuel blends or pay a penalty by purchasing credits from energy traders.
This government-sponsored corporate welfare showers money on a favored industry and then bills the public. Labor leaders and business and environmental groups have lined up to push back against this harmful regulatory regime. We must stop the RFS before more harm is done.
You can read my Delaware County Daily Times op-ed on the RFS here.

Spoken like a true oil company shill. Did you write all that BS yourself, or just read it off the paper they handed you? How much money have you taken from them so far Toomey?
