a "knowledge sharing session"??
we have to pay for this?
enter the 21st century and do teleconferences for training. Pretend you're spending your own money.
people earn college degrees online, but county employees from across the state can't even share ideas or attend meetings without going away and having taxpayers foot the bill.
@11:21. That is not the county's fault that these conferences are not currently conducted as a webinar. It is up to the host or sponsor of the conference to determine that. I am sure if the county could do the bulk of these conferences online then they would.
If you check the State associations and their resource libraries you will find nearly every training session offered. Golf, steak dinners and cocktail hours however, are not...It is up to the department heads, managers and Commissioners to decide what is appropriate and what is excessive. All on line training is not always possible, but it certainly should be encouraged and used FAR more frequently to cut costs appropriately!
