John Hanger says Corbett apology for LGBT slur not enough

John Hanger
Corbett’s apology for LGBT slur not enough

The governor must change his heart
by Jan Jarret
Harrisburg – John Hanger said today that Corbett’s remarks comparing between same-sex marriage and incest are unacceptable and beneath the office of governor and said that Corbett’s subsequent apology is inadequate.

“An apology for a comment so vile just doesn’t cut it,” said Hanger. “This governor has now used hateful, bigoted words twice to describe same-sex marriage. The LGBT community deserves more than an apology. They need the governor to change his heart.”

“Corbett’s words were beneath the dignity of the office of governor, and quite frankly, disqualify him from holding that office,” continued Hanger. “Hearing them took my breath away. The LGBT community and their families, co-workers and friends are right to be offended.”

“It’s too bad that November 2014 won’t come sooner,” concluded Hanger. “Pennsylvania does not deserve a governor who does not respect diversity and liberty.”

Democratic candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania John Hanger is widely regarded as one of the most insightful and best informed progressive public policy experts in the state. Formerly a public-interest lawyer advocating on behalf of low-income families, John is nationally recognized as a leading authority on clean energy development and environmental protection. He served both Governors Casey and Rendell in key positions: first for Bob Casey as Commissioner of the Public Utilities Commission, where he successfully fought to cap electric rates to save Pennsylvania ratepayers billions and for two years as Secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection in the Rendell Administration. Throughout his career in public service, John has embodied the essence of his campaign slogan "Policy first, politics second."

Yep its not enough for them, but if the shoe were on the other foot, they would not apologize. That is a big problem with these off the wall groups they want it all their way and thats it.

@ Oct 5 1:55PM By off the wall groups, do you mean old white evangelical Christians. I take it that you do, because they are the ones that want it all their way and no rights for anybody else.

As a friend and family member of gay people, it's highly offensive to hear your comments about that population. Are you seriously using religion as your basis for hating this gropup of people and discriminating against them? Because if you are, you are a bigoted moron who is a lying hypocrite in addition. If you apply your bible to the gays, you ignore a huge section of the bible and are using to spew venom toward what you either don't understand or are deathly afraid of. I say this with full confidence, because NO ONE and I mean NO ONE follows the bible literally. It is impossible to do and not land in jail. Like the parts where if your neighbor doesn't go to church you are obliged to kill him. Or you can sell your daughter into slavery. Get my drift, you hypocritical asses? If you're thunmping your bible to discriminate and be a hater, you can at least sign your name and let the world know what a lying , hypocritial jerk you really are, unless you're ashamed of your stance and afraid of being publically labelled.
