Oletha “Letha” B. Monahan
Oletha “Letha” B. Monahan, 91, entered into rest Monday (Sept. 30, 2013) at Wellsville Manor Care Center, with friends at her bedside.

Mrs. Monahan was born on May 2, 1922 in Wellsville to Cornelius J. and Hazel Pearl (Hungerford) Callaghan. She was a 1940 graduate of Andover Central School. On May 24, 1975, in Andover, she married Russell A. Monahan, who predeceased her on Dec. 4, 1992.

Letha worked for Southern Tier Home Health Care and later for Jan and Bev’s Home Care, both in Wellsville, retiring in 1999.

Letha is survived by a son, Neil (Judy) Storms of Aiken, S.C.; one brother-in-law, Thomas LeBar of Madison, Ohio; 18 grandchildren, Renee (Tim) Foster, Denae Storms, Jodi (Tim) Ross, Shawn Storms, Lee Patrick (Laurie) Storms, Rebecca (Dan) Barcy, Neil (Jessica) Storms, Casey Storms, Stephen (Delores) Storms, Shelly (David) Householder, Heather (Joey) Ahl, Sarah (Scott) McLeod, Audrey (Steve) Poore, Peggy (Nathanael) Berrett, Cindi (David) Fagan, Sandi Ryder, Tina Holcomb and Michelle (Brian) Asbury; 51 great grandchildren, 21 great- great grandchildren; a special friend, Ann Johnson of Wellsville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her second husband, Russell, she was predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, Walter L. Storms, Sr.; two daughters, Gayle LeBar and Cheryl Johnson; one son, Walter Lee Storms, Jr.; and one sister, Thelma LeBar.

Letha enjoyed growing flowers, sewing, reading and crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Andover Firemen’s Ladies Auxiliary and attended Wellsville Bible Church.

Friends may call on Friday from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at the Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 3:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation with Rev. Daniel Kenyon of the Wellsville Bible Church, officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in Letha’s name may be made to Allegany County Cancer Services, Attn: Lori Ballengee, 100 South Highland Ave., Wellsville, NY 14895.
