Call PADOT, Why call the fire dept?? Charge PADOT for the call outs!!!!!! The fire department charges if yu accidentally start a brush fire

Padot has employees who are trained, (mandatory) in flagging operations. I don'tthink vol firemen have that training. Thanks t them anyway but make the qualified peple do their own jobs. What if there's a fire while they are doing PADOT's job? Do they expect Padot employee's to put out fires?

Firefighters ARE TRAINED in flagging procedures,as well as radio procedures. And they CAN charge for wildfires, but rarely do. The fire department was, hopefully, flagging traffic until PENNDOT got there to fix the problem.

Fireman are trained to do all of this. In small towns the FD is relied on to do alot of work that could be done by others. This is why FD spends hours a year training in house, developing plans and taking pro certs.

But the fire dept can respond faster than penndot. FD is there to prevent an emergency from happening. However penndot should respond as well

Having had the privilege of being a volunteer fireman for thirty plus years I would like to clear up a few misconceptions. Fireman are trained at traffic control and do the best they can in all situations. We do not receive any pay for our services, and were dispatched by our dispatch center because a concerned citizen had the sense of urgency to keep the roads safe. God bless him for having that state of mind. As for wildfires, The department of forestry has the right to charge for an out of control wildfire if it is deemed the fault of the person who set it. I may need corrected on this detail but you get the idea. Not always is a person charged. We are a compassionate batch of guys and gals and many more behind the scenes do what they can to serve their community. I hope this post clears up a few things for some people. We as firemen and EMS providers will be ever willing, ever ready to serve.
