Sonya Y. Hale, 86, formerly of 79 Jefferson Street, Bradford, PA

Sonya Y. Hale, 86, formerly of 79 Jefferson Street, Bradford, PA passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 at Chapel Ridge.

Born December 28, 1926 in Coneville, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary (Rapchick) Vinnick.

On July 12, 1947 at the First Presbyterian Church in Bradford she married Howard D. Hale, Jr., who died August 11, 1981.

Mrs. Hale was a 1945 graduate of Bradford High School and served on the Alumni Committee. She volunteered for the Women's Auxiliary at the Bradford Ecumenical Home, Chapel Ridge and the Bradford Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1940 where she served as a Deacon and on the board of the Presbyterian Women.

Surviving is a daughter, Donna (Robert) Burdick, of Smethport, two sons David (Denise) Hale of Seven Lakes NC, Michael L. Hale, of Bradford, 2 grandchildren, Jill (Branden) Labecki of Lower Burrell, and Pamela (Kurt) Ferman of Smethport, two great grandchildren, Nathan Labecki and Jonah Labecki, one niece Nancy (Matt) McBride Dyer of Augusta, ME, one grand nephew Jon (Tara) Dyer.

At the family's request there will be no visitation. Friends will be invited to attend a memorial service at a later date and time to be announced. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Presbyterian Church Organ Fund, Chapel Ridge or the charity of the donor's choice.
