Think About It

People of Influence

Have you ever thought of yourself as a person of influence? The question of influence can seem to be obscure to some as influence can be seen as relating to only people of wealth and power. But reality says that we all can have influence. Parents have influence over their children, teachers over the students, and bosses over their employees are just a few of the more common ways that people have influence. But there are other ways that we have influence.

Influence comes to us in many ways. What we read or don’t read has an influence upon us. Who we hang around with and spend time with also has a great influence. It has been said that some people are born to be leaders while others followers. I don’t know if this is true, but it would certainly seem to have some truth to it when you observed how some people behave. However, I’m under the impression that we all have some level of influence over others both for the good and for the bad.

If you want to know what a person is made of then spend time with them. Listening to what they have to say and watching how they act can tell a lot about an individual. I have found some very interesting things about individuals just by keeping quiet and letting them speak. What they believe or don’t believe can be ascertain very quickly. If you want to know who the idiots are among you just be quiet long enough and it will be revealed when they open their mouths.

Jesus was a man of influence, not because of a great office that he held but because he chose to be a servant. A modern day example of this is Mother Theresa who quietly served the poor of India. Her influence was noted in her invitation to speak to leaders of nations. Not because she was of a high rank in government, but because she took on the lowly role of a servant.

Being a person of influence is more often found in people that serve. Their legacy often has a more lasting impact than those whose influence comes trough positions of power. Think about it.

I cannot believe that this site is now the new gospel site. I go to my own church to hear and discuss this topic.
