Chautauqua partners with National Geographic for Week Two

Chautauqua partners with National Geographic for Week Two

During the 2014 Season, Chautauqua Institution once again partners with National Geographic, with an examination of “Feeding a Hungry Planet” during Week Two, June 29–July 5.

As the world’s population swells and more countries become industrialized, this week will focus on the increasingly stressed global food supply, a subject National Geographic magazine will explore in a yearlong series in 2014.

The morning lecture lineup includes Dennis Dimick, executive editor of National Geographic magazine and 2012 Chautauqua lecturer, joined by photographer Jim Richardson (Monday); Tracie McMillan, author of The American Way of Eating, joined by photographer Amy Toensing (Tuesday); Pamela C. Ronald, professor of plant pathology at the University of California Davis (Wednesday); Barton Seaver, author of For Cod and Country and 2012 Chautauqua speaker (Thursday); and Jonathan Foley, director of the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota (Friday).
