CHS Interact Club’s Annual Soup Lunch

CHS Interact Club’s Annual Soup Lunch

The Coudersport High School Interact Club is in its third year and they are currently planning a Harvest Soup Lunch on Saturday, November 23rd from 12-2pm at Coudersport High School. This is right before the 2pm performance of the high school musical Grease. Lunch will include your choice of a soup/stew/chili, roll/crackers, beverage and a dessert. The cost is a donation and the proceeds from this year’s soup lunch will go to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

What is an Interact Club? Interact stands for INTERnational ACTions. Interact Clubs around the world are sponsored by their local Rotary. The first Interact Club was formed at Melbourne High School in Melbourne, FL in 1962. Today there are Interact Clubs in over 120 countries. The mission of each Interact Club is to carry out a minimum of two community service projects a year, including one that furthers international understanding and goodwill.

At Coudersport High School, the Interact Club has undertaken many service projects since its inception. Last year the club sponsored blood drives by the Community Blood Bank and collaborated with A Way Out to promote Teen Dating Violence Awareness during the month of February. They have raised money to support two previous international service projects, one in India and one in the Philippines. The club also works together with Rotary on projects. Currently, the Interact Club has three major fundraisers during the year: the annual soup lunch, selling baked goods at the Maple Festival and selling bags of coffee.
