Heart’s Desire Steps Up for Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries

Heart’s Desire Steps Up for Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries

Heart’s Desire is partnering with Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries this Christmas Season to raise awareness of this dual purpose facility designed for cats and dogs needing care on their return journey to loving homes.

While maintaining a high level of compassion, Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries has been molded by the needs it supports. Several programs have evolved in direct response to listening, watching and resolving to find answers. Grandpaws assists the elderly with limited resources with expenses to help keep their pets healthy and at home. H.O.P.E. (Helping Our Pets Eat) provides food and emergency care for pets in emergency situations. S.N.A.P. (Spay/Neuter Assistance Program) provides assistance and education to stabilize pet populations in homes and throughout our area. Compassion Fund, the broadest and most used program, provides assistance when accidents happen that put pets at risk. Perfect Match helps to find homes for pets through active networking, matching pets needing loving families to families needing loving pets. Tears of Hope reunites, even if only for a few hours, when life’s journey separates pet lovers from the animals that for years have given them love, laughter and companionship. Humane Education (Careworks) teaches, guides and motivates children and adults about pet care, and about developing an appreciation for life…domestic or wild. Guardian Homes assists people caring for homeless cats through pet food donations and donations for veterinary care where pet numbers have overwhelmed individuals compassionate about caring for larger numbers of cats.

Heart’s Desire has placed a “Paws For Life” Christmas tree decorated with paw garland and brightly colored lights in our front window. You can place a Paws for Life Holiday Memories ornament on the tree with a monetary donation of any amount (no amount is too small!) in memory, or in honor, of a loved pet. Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries is especially in need of donations of dry cat food at this time. We encourage you to drop off your food donations, or your monetary donations, at Heart’s Desire on Main Street in Galeton during this Christmas season.

Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries welcomes volunteers to step closer and understand their project, your joining as a volunteer, and would also be honored to have you as an individual or corporate sponsor by contacting them at, emailing them at, or by calling 1-888-724-6188.

At Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries it is all about pets, all about families, all about love and giving both pets and pet lovers every chance…any way…to keep them together.
