I need help finding my grandfathers flag

I need help finding my grandfathers flag and case.

My mother had lost her storage unit here in Smethport last year and with the unit she lost everything including the flag. I could care less about anything else in the unit. But I would LOVE to have the flag back. It has a few of his medals in it. His name should still be on it Bernard B Smith.

Please if you know of anyone that may have it please let me know. 814-331-7758.

The person who owned the storage unit should have the person's name who purchased the contents. Have you checked with them ? I'd like to think they'd at least try to contact the buyer and explain the situation. Good luck.

I don't think the people who own the storage facility here would even bother doing it.

A certified letter would have been issued telling your mother that she was behind in payment and about to give up all claim to the unit. What makes this odd is that it happened in 2012.

I feel sorry for your family, but I doubt it will be returned.

Thanks! I know just wanted to try to get it back. And was hoping whoever has it has enough heart to return it.

9:29:00 PM is correct. A certified letter would have been sent along with a first class letter. When storage bays are abandoned, the owner usually contacts a buyer to come and take everything that was abandoned in the bay. What happens to the items after that, the storage bay owner would have no idea. Sorry about the flag, but I am afraid it would be long gone.

Better Than You said...

I would bet that telling the family how they would have been notified that they were behind on their payments is of little help at this point. If anybody has, or knows who may have the flag hopefully they will do the right thing and return it to the family. Good luck to the OP, I hope you can get it back, family history is important.
