Together in life and together in death, Joseph C. Scaccia and his son, Joseph B. Scaccia passed away accidentally while working together on their racecar.

Joseph C. Scaccia, 67, formerly of Lockport, passed away on Wednesday (Nov. 13, 2013) at home. He was born on Oct. 3, 1946 in Lockport to Joseph A. and Bobbie L. (Curry) Scott. He was a 1964 graduate of Lockport Senior High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force Special Forces during Vietnam from 1966 to 1970.

Joe was a master mechanic for General Motors in Lockport from 1971 until his retirement in 1991.

Joe is survived by three sons, Stephen M. (Tracie) Scott of Lockport, Joel McClure of Texas and Robert T. Scaccia of Wellsville; one daughter, Tanya M. Scaccia of Buffalo; the mother of four of his children, Jane Scott of Lockport; a daughter-in-law, Audrey M. Scaccia of Wellsville; two sisters, Linda (Pete) Tolhurst of East Springfield, Pa. and Kim Scott of Lebanon, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, Nicholas Scott, Matthew Scott, Tamara McClure, Keonna Scaccia, Joslynn Scaccia, Kiara Scaccia, Sonya Scaccia, Sabre Scaccia, Reno Scaccia, Felena Scaccia, Roman Scaccia and Carmen Scaccia; one great granddaughter, Nevaeh Scaccia and soon to be a second great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joe’s passion was anything associated with racing. He worked on, built, raced and watched racing cars. He was a member of the New York International Drag Strip Association. Additionally, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Though racing was his passion, the true love of his life was his family, especially his grandchildren.

Friends may call on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Baker-Swan Funeral Home, 3256 Riverside Drive in Wellsville and on Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church, 200 Beattie Ave. in Lockport. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the church immediately following the visitation with full military honors. How Truly Sad my heart and prayers go out to this family. I dont know them but my heart breaks for the ones they have left behind. RIP Father and Son.
