MCKEAN COUNTY COMMISSIONER NAMED AS NEW PACD BOARD MEMBER

MCKEAN COUNTY COMMISSIONER NAMED AS NEW PACD BOARD MEMBER
Commissioner Lane Takes on NW Region Director Post for State Conservation Association

(Smethport, PA) – Commissioner Cliff Lane of Turtlepoint, McKean County, recently added the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts (PACD) to his resume. Lane joined the group as the Northwest Region Director of the statewide association earlier this month.

Lane has been a director for the McKean County Conservation District since 2004. He has also served as McKean County Commissioner for six of those 10 years. During his term in office, Lane was instrumental in transitioning the district from a part-time, one-person district in 2006 to the current full-time, four-person district it is now.

As a member of the PACD executive board, Lane is tasked with administering the affairs of the Association in accordance with its bylaws, programs and policies.

“With Cliff coming on, the PACD board is now at full capacity,” said PACD Executive Director Robert Maiden. “We are extremely excited about this next phase with our leadership and know that Cliff’s expertise will help guide work of conservation districts across the commonwealth. He is a true advocate for the environment and will be an asset as we all work to conserve natural resources for our future.”

Lane is very active in conservation education and outreach and is also a volunteer water monitor for the county. His professional interests focus on improving county government to provide services in a cost-effective streamlined manner. In addition to the conservation district board, he serves as the lead commissioner for the McKean County Human Services, Fiscal and IT Departments.

“I look forward to the work I’ll be able to embark on as a member of PACD’s board,” said Lane of his appointment. “I am proud to represent McKean County and know that my experiences here have positioned me to enact change on a statewide level with this association.”

PACD is a non-profit organization that supports, enhances and promotes the state’s 66 conservation districts and their local programs. As the collective voice for conservation districts throughout the commonwealth, the association enhances conservation district efforts (on the local level) which support the wise use of the state’s natural resources.
