UGI to decrease natural gas rates Dec. 1

UGI to decrease natural gas rates Dec. 1

By Myles Snyder
READING, Pa. (WHTM) -

UGI Utilities announced Wednesday that customers' purchased gas cost rates will decrease on December 1 due to lower wholesale natural gas costs.

The average residential heating customer's bill will decrease approximately 6.3 percent, from $92.36 to $86.55 per month, the utility said in a news release.

By law, utilities cannot earn a profit on the natural gas commodity portion of a customer's bill, and are required to pass the cost of the natural gas they purchase directly to customers without any markup.
