Galeton Rotary Club News

Galeton Rotary Club News

By Henry Lush

The Galeton Rotary Club met on Thursday December 5 at the Ox Yoke Inn with president Doug Reeves presiding.

The club voted to contribute $2,400. To the Galeton Area School shop department for the purchase of new shop equipment.

This amount along with a $5,000. Donation by the Gale Foundation earlier this Fall will allow the shop teacher, Andy Meyers ,to purchase a much needed new piece of equipment for the shop. These funds are made possible by the Rotary Woodsmen's Show.

The club also voted to contract with Burdick Technologies to develop a new web page for the club to include 2014 Woodsmen Show activities.

The Rotary Christmas Star shines brightly over Galeton as it has since 1951. The star is a community tradition that is looked forward to by many which signals the start of the Advent Season. The club recognized and thanked Rotarian Tony Adami for replacing the burned out bulbs and lighting the star. Climbing up the steep hill then climbing up and on the star is a daunting task. We often take this for granted, but it is because of Tony the star is lit each year. Tony has been faithfully doing this for many years.

Next Thursday the club Christmas party will be held at the Pine Creek Inn.
