St. Marys Man Accidentally Shot Himself In Hip
UPDATED 10:00 PM--State Police at Kane have identified the shooting victim as Daniel T. Schreiber, 53, of St. Marys, PA. Trooper Tyler J. Lauer said Schreiber reached for his Winchester .270 rifle thinking it was unloaded and accidentally fired a shot that went into his hip. The accident happened in the parking lot of the Nittany Minit Mart in Hamlin Township at about 5:50 PM.

Schreiber was transported to Kane Community Hospital and flown to ECMC Hamot in Erie for treatment of his injuries. Mt. Jewett Ambulance personnel and Medic 5 treated the victim at the scene and transported to the landing zone in Kane.

When this was first posted. it was just somebody was shot in the hip at Nittany, I immediately thought somebody accidentally shot themselves. I was thinking it was a pistol not a rifle though. That takes talent.

was the gun arrested?

Why was he reaching for his rifle in the parking lot of a convenience store?

There have been several big bucks hanging around that store and some deer too.

He was sitting at a gas pump pump #6 to be exact because when I showed up at 630 my 11 year old daughter and 10 year old niece wanted to know why there was blood all over the ground. They didn't close that pump or mark it off they just moved his truck and kept selling gas. Stay classy nittney mart!
