A sickly, mangy bear has been spotted

A sickly, mangy bear has been spotted near the Treat farm on Burrows rd. Patrols have not seen this bear, but Pa Game Commission has been notified as well. If you see this bear please contact us immediately by dialing 911 or contact the PGC @ 1-570-398-4744 and report it..The mange can be contagious, passed to pets or humans. Stay away from this bear.

I'm surprised a bear would still be out. Shouldn't they be hibernating by now?

When they have mange they have to keep moving or they will freeze to death. Its sad but truly natures way of keeping everything in check.

Don't count on the Game Commission to do a thing about it.....the 570 number provided goes to a call center and they "Screan" the calls and decide what to forward....PGC cries about the pouching of deer in our area and yet they never respond because "They never get the call" more government bs and wasted tax dollars.

You probably don't get any attention from the PGC 12:47 because they already know you are a kook and are trying not to waste money to come and service your idiotic calls about nothing. Just like anything else. You don't like the service when you call for something ask for a supervisor.

I have to chuckle a bit with this post to stay away from the bear. I would think common sense should already tell us not to approach a wild bear, mange or not. It is sad though to think of the poor thing being sick and wandering in this cold. If the game commission doesn't take care of it, I'm sure this cold weather will.

Sorry 12:59 but I don't think I am a kook and when I called about a bear causing trouble in town in my driveway, they said we have to talk to the supervisor and still no one called or came to help!!!

6:59 what kind of trouble was the bear causing in your driveway? did you get a description of the bear so the game warden could recognize it?

if the bear has 50% or more the game commission will kill it any way cause it can't be treated. so as a hunter I say just shoot it, it's in pain an suffering that would be a much better death than what it has now . THEN WATCH HOW DAM FAST PGC GETS THERE. sorry ya right I am

6:59 so you called and said there is a bear causing trouble in town??? You're kidding me right? Welcome to bear country you idiot! If I was the PGC I would have returned your call. Just to tell you to deal with it and STFU!

we had a bear with severe mange in our yard last year and called the Game Commission. They were supposed to come trap it but never showed. Never called back to explain why not either. Poor service, especially for the sick bear. Had I known they wouldn't do anything, I'd have shot the animal to stop its misery, laws be damned.
