Conway and Steinbugl Nab NEC Weekly Track And Field Honors

Peter Kazery

SOMERSET, N.J. (Jan 29, 2014) – Nicholas Conway (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) and Ryan Steinbugl (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) of the Saint Francis U men's track and field team nab Northeast Conference weekly honors after having noteworthy performances at the Bucknell Gulden Invite.

Steinbugl earned the NEC field athlete of the week after clearing 4.65-meters at the Gulden Invite. The sophomore's vault earned SFU their lone victory at the invite helping the Frankies place fifth overall. The Altoona native also ranks number one on the NEC pole vault leader board.

Conway received rookie of the week honors after beating out fellow NEC freshman Julian Woods from Mount St. Mary's for third place at the Gulden Invitational. The Red Flash freshman clocked in at 8.25s in the finals at Bucknell, edging out Woods for bronze by 0.01 second. The time qualified Conway for the IC4A Championships in March. Conway now owns the Saint Francis 60-meter hurdles record, besting the pervious record by .02 seconds. The freshman ranks second on the NEC's performance list in the high jump and 60-meter hurdles.

The Saint Francis track team travels next to the Spire Midwest indoor track and field open that is held in Geneva, Ohio Jan. 31 through Feb. 1.
