FRACKING: Triple Divide Movie Highlights Plight Of Allegany Township Family

The "Good Neighbor" chapter of Triple Divide investigates the nuisance case of Jim Harkins, who had a Marcellus well pad built 800ft from his back door on a neighbor's property [not that uncommon].

Unfortunately, after the flaring on the well pad ceased, the operators began to 'vent' once every day or so. The venting of the well lasts for roughly a half hour and consists of a sound a lot like an extremely loud factory whistle. Jim continued to battle with the company about the disturbances, but has been forced to find an alternative location to live. He's now purchased a home in Florida, and lives there part of the year, but is planning to move from Pennsylvania because of what's happened to their standard of living after fracking began. He invested hundreds of thousands of dollars on a home and property that a realtor told him they couldn't sell because of how close the well is to his yard.

For more about his story, and to watch the full feature length film (90min) visit:http://tripledividefilm.org/

One big difference though. All that flaring and disturbance came and went and that place is very tranquil now. So what's the problem? That disruption was very temporary. To be fair the movie people should film it now and show what it's like. They leave the impression that Jim and wife continued to be victimized. It was actually a brief moment in time. Propaganda?

Anonymous 4:03....

Nobody is "judging" Jim and his wife...

The point of the previous comment is to simply state that the situation they endured was only temporary... and that the story was not told from start to end...

That's the problem with this country... especially with the media.,,, they only want to tell ONE side of the story and only PARTIAL segments of the story.... and it is usually the part that affects people's emotions.

People need to realize that any time they hear, see, or read about an event or situation that there is probably a large chance that they are not hearing the complete story and are only hearing ONE side of the story..

Wake up America!

We'd sure like to hear the rest of the story. Maybe you could elaborate?

Sounds like a land owner that close to a well being constructed held out on a lease term for more money and ended up getting nothing !!!now the folks are mad at Pen Virginia gas and oil

Why aren't you omplaining about the gas industry not telling the other side of the story. All these commercials and radio ads saying how great it is. No wonder many people don't have a clue about fracking.

Triple Divide has a history of only telling one side of the story! Get all the facts not just the biased ones!

You well lickers sure do jump to defend just about anything.

Thank god it wasn't a windmill. It would have corrupted their children and devoured their pets.
