Think About It

Looking Forward

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
(Hebrews 12:1 NLT)

I am one who believes that there is a plan for our life and that if we can keep our eyes focused upon that, then whatever comes our way along that path will not distract us from our destination. I can also say that I didn’t always believe this. Thirty-seven years ago I was at my wits end. Try as I might I wasn’t living my life as I knew I should. It wasn’t so much that I was a bad person or that things were going badly. In fact, just the opposite was true. I had a great job, and a great family, but inside me, there was something wrong. It was a quiet November day that I surrendered my life to God and to live my life according to his plan. Since then I’ve had no regrets. Oh I’ve had some major screw ups along the way, but I choose, in each situation, to get back up and move forward towards what was set before me. That’s one of the reasons the verse that I quoted in the beginning is so important to me.

Paul said the same thing in Philippians 3:14, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. All of this is important because as I look forward to a new year it helps me to keep my eyes focused on what’s ahead. I don’t have to think about any new resolutions or trying to turn over a new leaf. You might say that it is already planned out for me. The real question relates to how well I am doing today. Why? Well simply because if I focus on living well today then that sets me up to do the same for the next day. When you put each day together they soon become a week, then a month, and then another year has passed and in the end you can look back and see what you’ve accomplished, even through the hardships. Remember that God says that even though we walk through the valley, he would be there. The question remains, what path are you on? Think about it.

Seems a bit prideful to me. To one assume God does have a plan for you. And two to assume you know what it is. Also seems a bit pathetic in that one you need a path. And two that you need to be lead down said path. Forge your own path, blaze the trail. And really gods organizing races now and handing out a prize? So gods with us no matter where we are? But we got to race to get to him ? Makes perfect sense really it does.........

Pick up a bible and start reading... somewhere, ANYWHERE. Before you do this (or as you doing this) please say something like-- God, if you are real, please help me to understand what I am reading.

Then it must be prideful to believe that the God of Creation loves you, that He sent His own Son to die for your sorry soul and lives now to secure your home in Heaven. Nothing prideful about it. It's just simple Faith believing what God says in His Word. Just as the potter creates a clay vessel, he has a plan for its use. Decorative, utility, etc., It is his prerogative as to how it is used, but he does have a plan. If we boast, let us boast in the Lord. That is not self-pride.

I thought we are all gods children... So why is one better than the rest? Playing favoritism with your kids that's not right. You people think this crap makes sense really? Put away your fairy tale book. Your grown ups act like them, and use logic and reason.

Praise The Lord 3:18, God is no respecter of persons, He does not show partiality & He is God! sorry to burst your little bubble of thinking, My God is REAL,& He is not from any fairy tale! He loves you as well as any of us!

Why do you all put so much stock in a book written by ancient dudes. Who thought the world was flat, the sun revolved around the earth, women are inferior to men, and a multitude of other BS. I'm sure it has its lessons, many books do. But they don't get thumped as much. I don't think for a second, it is the pinnacle of knowledge and wisdom its made out to be. I do not know god exists. To say he does for sure would be a lie. I do not believe in god because I will not say something is truth with out having proof. However I hope there is a supreme being, it is a good idea. Of course the god I hope for is much different than the god you claim belief in. And I certainly will not put my faith in a book, more so than the god which inspired said book.
