Airline Intends To Discontinue Service To Bradford Airport

That airline that provides service to Bradford Regional Airport plans to end that service by May 15.
Silver Airlines today said it provided the US Department of Transportation with a 90-day notice of its intent to discontinue service between Cleveland and airports in Bradford, Jamestown, DuBois and Franklin, as well as Parkersburg, West Virginia.

Dave Pflieger, president and CEO of Silver Airways, said in a news release that “multiple factors have combined to make it economically impossible for us to continue flying” between Cleveland and the five markets.

Shortly after Silver’s announcement Senator Bob Casey said he’s committed to ensuring that Northwestern Pennsylvania has access to safe and reliable air transportation

Lol for who? You...your rich supporters....the government employees? That airport doesn't exist for the common man no matter how you paint it.

Anyone ever see how much it costs to fly a puddle jumper from Bradford to a larger airport?
Hope you have deep pockets, or someone else is paying the freight.

Hopefully this will be the beginning to the end of the Essential Air Service subsidy. How can anyone justify 2 outgoing and 2 incoming flights per day.

How about cutting TSA out of the regionals, have security at the destination airport and subsidize flights with the savings?

Always take a bus to Buffalo or Pittsburgh to catch a flight, anyway. Cost much less & you don't have to fly in one of those tiny sardine can planes.

I just laugh at the hypocrite politicians who push so hard for the federal taxpayers to constantly subsidize this outdated, unnecessary airport. They say they want to pull in the out of control federal government spending but then they vote to pour all that money into a remote airport just one hour from Buffalo that has, what, six passengers per day? Get real!ancthe now

HAHA... Have security at the "Destination" airport? Oh..I see, check after the flight for weapons or explosives. Isn't there something about closing the barn door.....
Unfortunately, though this is a rural airport, someone hell bent on destruction will try to test the system anywhere they can. I do agree that the Federal money spent subsidizing tickets (especially to Hopkins/Cleveland)is wrong, but as long as the Feds continue to want to do spend the money we should get our share too!
